Koh Phangan is not yet a place with a high touristic flow. However, there are already a few great places to eat on the island. Including the restaurants with a view, special breakfast places with healthy smoothie bowls, roof-top bars etc. So check the list with my top-8.
L’Alcove is not only the restaurant but the resort. The place is very romantic. Imagine, it is a French restaurant with French music and cuisine, where you sit barefoot just 4 meters from the sea and witness one of the most beautiful sunsets in the world. The restaurant can offer a high-quality menu. They import cheeses from Italy and France, bread from the French bakery on Koh Samui and have their own wine cellar.
Freeway Bar is located on the Hink Kong beach very close to the previous restaurant. It’s not a restaurant. There is no even food. But the place is very chill. And the sunsets are great. Which a often accompanied by live music and DJ. Besides the bar, there is also a handmade shop and a tattoo saloon. An unusual interior (hippie style) makes the place an Instagramming.
Another great sunset place. The bar has one of the greatest views on the island. It is very chill, you can sit on the carpet or lie in the pool, drinking cocktails and listen to popular music from all over the world (they have even Russian music). The food is also very good. Once we spent half of the day in the restaurant and totally enjoyed it.
Three sixty bars is called so as it has 360 degrees view on the island, which makes it the best viewpoint of the island. It is also a popular party place. Because of all that, in my opinion, the place is overcrowded and the prices are high.
To my mind, this is the best hotel in Koh Phangan. As it’s situated on the very calm Leela beach has a great sunset view. Unfortunately, we couldn’t afford the room in the resort. Check the prices HERE. However, we could use the roof-top restaurant and its goods: an infinity pool and sunbed bungalows, just ordering a coconut or pizza. In the restaurant, they serve European and American cuisine and prices are quite expensive. But the place is just amazing to spend the chill day. Comparing to all previous place Cabin Beach Resort Bar is the most stylish in a way of the modern style as it looks clean and furniture is new.
The best breakfast place in Koh Phangan. It is situated in Baan Tai. In the place, they serve these healthy Instagram smoothie bowl including even the Acai bowl served in a cute coconut bowl.
The best breakfast place in Haad Rin. I haven’t managed to find the website or even the location of the place. But it is situated just next to Mama’s Schnitzel (which I am not recommending at all). They serve different types of smoothie bowl including Acai bowl, waffles, pancakes, etc.
My misfortune on the island was the absence of good coffee on the island. In most of the places, they make a powder coffee. But then we found the Goyogo. And what a relief it was. They have good coffee and delicious desserts.
As there is no airport on the island, you have to combine the ferry with the bus/train or other kinds of transport. Check the timetable of all transport in Asia and combine your route on the portal 12.go.Asia. We booked our transfer from Surathani airport to Koh Phangan (bus + ferry). It was really comfortable as they met us just at the airport entrance and it cost 500 bats per person.
