This is a selection of restaurants and cafes in Riga with a completely different price range from very affordable to high.
Usually when you’re a tourist you have a very short period of time to get to know the city and can’t choose the restaurant properly. So this list will definitely help you with that in Riga.
This is my absolute favorite restaurant in Latvia. It’s the kind of place you go to when you want to fully immerse yourself in flavors and truly enjoy the evening.
Gongu offers author’s cuisine at the crossroads of classic Japanese and vibrant Peruvian flavors. I absolutely love their ceviche and open rolls.
The luxurious interior deserves a special mention — it’s a destination on its own. If you’re looking for the perfect place to wear your most beautiful outfit, Gongu is the place.

This is a more affordable spot for a filling Japanese-style lunch. The Japanese bistro opened in Origo Shopping Centre in December twenty twenty-five, and during the very first week there were already huge lines.
What should you order? Definitely ramen — the portions are massive. The karaage chicken is also very tasty, and of course, don’t miss the Instagram-worthy capybara desserts.

This is my favorite Italian restaurant in Riga.
First of all, the atmosphere is amazing — especially in summer when you can sit on the terrace.
Second, the service is excellent. They pay attention to small details, like complimentary focaccia or beautiful designs made with olive oil and balsamic vinegar.
And third — the food is absolutely delicious.
My top three dishes here are:

Lage is a chain of gourmet food stores offering ready-made, healthy meals. You can eat on the spot or take a packed portion to go.
There are locations all over Riga (in all major shopping centers) and also in Jūrmala. In my opinion, this is the best solution for lunches or for days when you don’t feel like cooking at home.
My personal favorites are the sous-vide beef with a side dish, lasagna, and the mango & chia dessert.

This is the largest Asian restaurant chain in the Baltic countries. You can order high-quality, delicious sushi with the right balance of ingredients – all at very reasonable prices.
I especially love Gan Bei in Jūrmala during summer. It has a beautiful terrace and a great atmosphere. In other seasons, the most beautiful location is definitely Gan Bei at Riga Plaza.
My personal favorites are the Golden Dragon roll (if you’re a Philadelphia roll fan, you’ll love it), honey chicken, and sake tataki.
I also highly recommend visiting the Sunday brunch at Gan Bei on Kr. Barona Street. And of course, don’t forget that they also offer business lunch options.

This is a coffee shop chain that, in my opinion, serves some of the best coffee in the city. Their matcha is also excellent — highly recommended.
I love coming to the Rocket Bean near the Freedom Monument, ordering a matcha, and reading a book while enjoying the view of the city center.

This is the cutest coffee shop in the city. It has a cozy interior, soft armchairs, and very friendly staff.
I highly recommend trying their banana latte — it’s made with real banana and no syrups, which makes it extra special.

This restaurant is located in Zolitūde and is very convenient if you’re driving from Riga to Jūrmala. From the outside, you wouldn’t expect how beautiful it is inside.
Habits offers delicious European cuisine with elegant presentation. The menu is updated regularly and features many seasonal dishes. And the homemade bread is simply fantastic — don’t miss it.

Since I love Japanese food this is my absolutely favorite restaurant in Riga. Having traveled to Japan, I was sure that nowhere else I would not eat so tasty sushi. But here it happened! This is the best ramen house in Riga. I especially recommend taking salmon poke and tuna for a snack. Tables must be booked in advance.

Here they cook the most delicious steaks in Riga. And also a great Caesar salad and tartare. Moreover, this is not a restaurant, but a butcher’s shop where you can buy juicy meat from Latvia and Argentina, as well as canned food, pies and various snacks. 2 years ago, bar counters were installed in the shop, behind which they now receive visitors. The place is very soulful. Highly recommended!
If you are in old Riga and want to eat tasty and satisfying food (but not in Lido), then WOK is a great option. Large portions and really delicious. You can take one wok for two.

Hipster place with trendy healthy breakfasts and food: smoothies, avocado toast, green waffles, poke and bowls. I love buddha-bowl here and often order it for lunch.
