Singapore is one of the most popular hubs for layovers within Asia. So frequent travelers have all the chances to have a layover in Singapore and even spend here a few days. If you fly from Asia to Europe and have a layover in Singapore I highly recommend you stop by and visit the city.

How to get from Changi Airport to the center of Singapore?

There are actually a lot of ways 🙂 Bus, metro, etc. But I will talk about two of the most convenient:

• Download the Grab app. This is an Asian version of Uber. We were very surprised, but a taxi in Singapore was quite cheap. The road from the center to the airport cost us $ 12.
• Transfer. I do not mean the usual transfer, where you order a separate car. No. At the lower level of the airport, there is a stop of special mini-buses. You buy a ticket for $ 8 and indicate the name of your hotel. Together with you on the bus can be up to 15 people. And the drive drops everyone at the door of their hotel.

1. Walk around the airport

The airport in Singapore is one of the best in the world. There is a game-room, x-box, movie theatre, shopping center and even a huge indoor garden with fresh air and waterfall.

2. Take a free transit tour

It is a free 2-hour city tour. You can sign up for a tour in the airport Terminal 2 and 3. There two types of tour: day-tour around the most important historic and cultural sights and night-tour which passes all the most iconic, lit-up city locales.

3. Enjoy the evening show at Gardens by the Bay

Gardens by the Bay is one of the best places to visit in Singapore. But as fantastic it is by the day – as marvelous by night. The night show called Garden Rhapsody takes place twice a day: at 19:45 and at 20:45, and it is around 10-15 minutes long. And it’s absolutely free. If you can’t go there by evening, you still can come by the day.

4. Take a night safari in the Zoo

I have been to the Singapore Zoo twice: by day it is just an average big Zoo but the night experience is just amazing as all the predators are in their active phase. Imagine you stand one meter away from the lion or are surrounded by bats still being absolutely safe. Click here to check the information and prices.

5. Enjoy the Light & Water Show at Marina Bay

As you may have guessed. Yes, there is so much to do during the evening in this city. The show also takes place every day at 8 pm and 9 pm and during the weekend also at 10 pm and it is absolutely free. Click here for more information.

6. Go to Sentosa island

It is not the best universal park, but it is a good option for the second day in Singapore. If you have seen already everything (like the indoor waterfall in the airport) why not see the absolutely hand made beach and the paradise park? Attention, you need at least the whole half of the day to enjoy the island. And if you are there don’t miss the Aquarium Marine Life Park.

7. Walk around the city: Clarke Quay, Chinatown, Little India

My favorite place in the city is definitely the Clarke Quay harbor with its skyscrapers and water views. You stay in the middle of these expensive hotels dreaming that someday you will book a room at Marina Bay Sands hotel and enjoy the day in its roof-top swimming pool. ABut for now – visit the Marina Bay Sands shopping center. They have the inside river with real gondolas and a giant bridge that leads to the Gardens by the Bay.

8. Make an Instagram photo at Marina Bay Sands rooftop infinity pool

Only the hotel guests can use the swimming pool facilities, so you won’t get into if not booking the room. The one-night price will cost you around 400 euros. So I will just leave a picture here, dreaming that one day I will afford to make my own one.

How to get to Singapore? / How to travel around Asia?

For many of you, it seems that it is really difficult to orientate in Asian countries. However, it’s much easier than you think. All the transport timetables and possible routes of how to get from place to place are united on one website – 12.go.asia. You can combine both trains with buses and ferries including the airport transfers and literally, can get to any point you want.
