Angkor Wat is the most popular attraction in Asia. The main flow of the Cambodian tourists is determined to visit exactly this destination in Cambodia. Angkor Wat is situated close to the city Siem Reap. So, to get to Angkor Wat you firstly have to get to Siem Reap. The city has an international airport, and a bus terminal. Being situated nearby the touristic attraction Siem Reap turned into a very touristic place full of comfortable hotels, market streets, restaurants, and massage salons.
There are 2 ways to get to Cambodia from Bangkok. First – the easiest: direct 1-hour flight Bangkok – Siem Reap. Second – the direct 8-hours bus. If you book in advance the price is more or less the same – 30$ per person. Click HERE to organize you route and check the timetable.
Here again, you have two options. The first one is to buy the organized 2-days or 3-days tour. The disadvantage of this one is that you will be a part of the group and be dependent on the program. However, everything will be already organized and easy. The second way is to go to Bangkok and then to take a bus or flight.
There are plenty of direct flights to Siem Reap every day from many Asian countries, like Thailand, China or Singapore. We flew to Siem Reap from Singapore with a layover in Bangkok because the direct flight was on the next day. It cost us 70$ each. However, I checked other ways to get to Siem Reap on the 12.Go.Asia.
Sihanoukville is a main beach resort in Cambodia. If you spend a vacation there, coming to Siem Reap for couple of days would be a great idea. There are 2 ways to get from Sihanoukville to Siem Reap. First is a direct 1-hour flight, which will cost around 30-60$. And second is the night 12-hours bus, which will cost 15$. There are 2 buses every day: at 20:00 and 20:30. Buy bus tickets here.
I would recommend you 2 ways. The first is to book a full excursion. And the second is to ask to arrange with a tucker to pick you up and take you from temple to temple. It will cost you around 20-30$ per day.
